How You Can Create More Options to Travel
Who isn’t dreaming of spending (more) time with your family in a tropical paradise like this one? We dream about it all the time. Both going to more places and for longer. But unfortunately, it’s not always easy to just follow the urge. Finding both time and money can be a true challenge when it comes to traveling at the rate and to the places that you would like to.
However, there are some things you can do to create more options for traveling.
Finding time
For many of us with full-time jobs, finding enough time to travel can be challenging. And having school-age kids that only have vacation at designated times of the year, makes the challenge bigger.
Before we had kids we became experts in exploiting our weekends and shorter holidays to perfection for traveling.
We are lucky enough to live in a place where we are both close to a well-connected airport (thanks to Copenhagen Airport) and where adventures in foreign countries are never far away. That’s one of the great advantages of living in a small country like Denmark.
After having kids we have become a little less prone to using every available weekend or short holiday traveling but we still do try to fit in trips as much as we can.
If you are just a little creative, it will be possible to go to quite a few places in the course of a year on long weekends or bank holidays. It may not be to the Philippines but many European cities or territories can be reached in a few hours from the northern part of Europe. Similarly, there are probably interesting traveling options in your vicinity if you live in other places around the world.

Money to spend
Money is another good reason that we cannot just go to all of the places on our bucket list at a fast pace. After all, traveling does not come cheap – especially if you are restricted to travel on certain dates and don’t have time to stay in a place for longer periods of time to get the best deals.
So learning how to stretch your budget by planning and knowing how to find good deals is a must if you dream of traveling more.
Below, we have gathered a few tips on how you could create more possibilities to travel:
3 tips for creating more options to travel
- Get creative with your vacation days. If you have kids in school, chances are you can only travel during certain times of the year. However, there are ways to get around this. For example, many schools offer winter and spring break programs that allow parents to take their kids out of school for a week or two and still get credit. You could also try to simply ask if you could take the kids out of school for a couple of weeks for the educational purposes your destination provides. These are great options if you want to take a longer trip.
- Use points and miles. If you fly often for work or have a credit card that offers rewards points, you can use those points to book free or discounted travel. Many airlines and hotels have partnerships with credit card companies, so be sure to check and see if your card offers any travel-related benefits.
- Join a travel club. There are many membership-based organizations that offer deeply discounted rates on hotels, resorts, and cruises. Some of these clubs require an upfront fee, but if you travel often, they can easily pay for themselves. And even if you only travel once or twice a year, the savings can still be significant.
- Educate yourself on the subject of travel hacking.
Final words
There are many ways to save on travel if you get creative and do your research. By using points and miles, joining a travel club, learning other tricks of travel hacking, and getting creative with your vacation days, you can open up a whole world of possibilities for affordable travel.
